We are going to be traveling to Orlando cross country with our 20 month old baby. We have a dlx sleeper. Any advice or words of wisdom to make our journey better, easier, or other tips?

A couple in a deluxe bedroom traveling across the country with a 20 month old, OK.
I don't know where to begin, my son being 32 years old, my only child.
Only problem might be food. FDA regulations forbid anything from being placed in food units on the train unless it is pre packed Amtrak food. They could heat some water for you for bottles etc. If the infant is still on the bottle, maybe you could bring a portable bottle warmer?
I don't know why you wouldn't have a great trip. I was right next to a single mom with 2 younguns in a standard sleeper & thought I'd be awake all night. Talked with her in the morning & she said they never slept so well. Might have something to do with the rocking of the train.

I took my 28 month old son from Denver to NYC and back. Had a deluxe sleeper.

Bring extra milk and juice in a small cooler.
Hold his/her hand when walking through the train.
I slept on the bottom bunk with him and there was plenty of room.
Attendant brought warmed milk and juice to the room in the early a.m., and in the evening I got some warm milk from the dining car before it closed.
I opened the bottom bunk in the afternoon for his nap and he did just fine.
WE both slept well.
There is yogourt and kid friendly foods in the dining car but bring your spill proof cups.
Be sure to bring daipers and wipes as they are not generally for sale in the stations.
I brought along my collapsable stroller and left it sitting in the baggage rack by the doors. Used it when we had long stops.
Write me off list if you like. My son Luis - now 4.5 - still talks about the trip. Me too!!! I hope to do it again this fall..
