I've been checking the status of the Capitol Ltd. for the last week or so and have oticed that the westbound train often arrives in Chicago early, where as the easbound train has been at least 2 hours late into DC every day. Anyone know why this is?

The first guess off the top of my head would be consistent conflicts with westbound freights (Isn't the general flow of traffic on that line westbound?). Or, probably even more likely, the consistent tardy arrival of the Southwest Chief into Chicago. Its set turns around just in 4 hours to become the eastbound Capitol Limited. In recent weeks, the Chief has been running up to 6-8 hours late -- you do the math.

I was wondering about that one too, thanks for your info. In May, my family took the Capitol Limited down to DC and it was 3 hours late; when we all took it back (I had flown down with another group) it was almost an hour earlier. Thanks for answering me.
