Fantastic lodging for Railfans in Columbus, Ohio. HOTEL: Residence Inn by Marriott, 7300 Huntinton Park Drive, Columbus, OH 43235. Phone (614) 885-0799.....north of downtown(Worthington area), visible from Interstate 270 (loop), minutes from RR Museum.
Situated in Office Park only a few short yards from 2 VERY ACTIVE NS tracks and 1 CSX track. Very FAST action.
Book rooms ($79-$125) directly through hotel only, not Marriott's 800#. Request a trackside room on the 3rd or 4th floor on the north end of the building. Dogs permitted with $100 non-refundable deposit. Very large rooms with large windows that actually OPEN!
A new Railfan will get very little sleep at night due to the train action while a seasoned Railfan will enjoy sleeping beside the noise and vibration all night.
This is the best hotel that I've ever been to with heavy train action this close.

Sounds great. The only problem I have is the $100 "non-refundable deposit" for dogs. Why do they call it a deposit if it's not refundable? That would be a surcharge, no?
I know it's just commercial speak, but it drives me nuts.
Still, since I travel dogless, I'll check it out next time I'm down that way.
