I have notice Amtrak has open up it refer business. Now I would like to see Amtrak to get with UPS, FedEx, RPS,Yellow, Roadway, WestEx and other package and small freight Companies. I see a lot of baggage cars and other express cars. I think the these companies should look to Amtrak for same day local delivies. For Example The Pacific Surfliner Route (San Luis Obispo-Santa Barbara-Oxnard-San Fernando Valley-Los Angeles-Orange County-San Diego). UPS can have something shipped to any where in the Pacific Surfliner Route and delivered within 4 to 12 hours. This could also help Amtrak to make it by the 2003 deadline. And really help UPS, FedEx, Yellow, WestEx, RPs, Roadway and others. Specially the smaller and lesser known shippers and the new shippers that are just now starting out. And on the longer route like the Coast Starlight and the New DayLight route that is about to start out soon. I cannot wait to see an UPS Colored car on the back of some Amtrak Trains.

There has been a big shakeup in Amtraks express business. A former Norfolk Southern exec has been named to the top post & I look for some new ideas to be coming soon. Reggie
