Hi again. You all were so helpful when I posted previously regarding the Coast Starlight and Pacific Surfliner and I am grateful. Now, I'm back with another question.
My hotel is in Monrovia and I'm not too keen on the idea of paying a taxi to/from Union Station the day that I go down to San Diego. I'm considering taking the bus. I don't own a car and take the bus nearly everyday anyway, so it's no big deal.
The morning bus is an express that apparently puts people off directly at one of the station's entrances. However, I notice on my return trip, I'll have to catch my bus at the Patsaouras Transit Center. I'm not sure how far that is from Union Station and it will be dark, but not late(around 7 PM). Is it an okay area to wait for a bus, or should I take a cab?

The Patsaouras Transit Center is at one end of Union Station. You can walk from your train to your bus stop in less than 5 minutes.

The Patsaouras Center is upstairs / up 'escalator' at the east end of the pedestrian tunnel that connects all platforms at LAUS. It is an outside loop with maybe 12 spots for different bus routes. It seems ok but can be a bit breezy out there. There are directory boards that list which buses use each spot, but you might try to find out which spot you need in advance.
And with the most recent time change there is still daylight at 7PM
