Is it possible to book a sleeper for one night only? I have six coach seats reserved. Going from Orlando to D.C., layover, then off to Chicago. Then to LA... This is where I would like to get a sleeper..... Let's say for Albequerque to LA... Is this possible... maybe after we get on board on June 5th?

Yes it is possible and there is more than one way to do it. You could book Chicago - Albq on coach, then book a separate sleeper ticket Albq - LA. Another way is to attempt to upgrade on-board but on that route during summer you'd be very lucky to be able to do so.
Try various city pairs on Amtrak's reservations website - going one stop further down the line before changing to a sleeper can make a *lot* of difference to the price. But don't forget meals are included in the sleeper price, so factor that into the equations.

Thanks! I was wondering, since I already have the coach ticket, to upgrade now. On the web, they price out both, the rail fare and the accomodation fare... I am hoping I can spend just the accomodation fare.
