Hi everyone-----I have been taking the pacific surfliner from Los Angeles to San Diego/ Santa Barbara/ San Juan Capistrano for many years but I always take coach. I want to take business class but first I want to know what the difference mainly is? IE: service, food, .....Is there a phone jack for a laptop? I heard that once..

1. Better footrest.
2. IF you get the normal business class car there should be power at each seat for laptop, CD player, etc. However, if they substitute a Superliner car (sometimes happens) there will be no outlets. If that happens to you, SPEAK UP EARLY if you want a refund of the business class premium.
3. Free coffee, packaged juice, muffin, snack box, USA Today, glass of wine. Your ticket stub is good for a free soft drink but you have to go to the cafe to get it [usually].
4. Fewer noisy kids
5. Video system broken (almost immediately after the cars were put in service) because the stereo gear was stolen. Never fixed.
6. I think it is worth the extra $ just for a less crowded/less noisy ride.

Also add:
7. Guaranteed seat. The Surfliners are not reserved seating and sometimes are standing room only on weekends (mostly in the Summer, between LAUS and Santa Anna.)

Better ask someone who was on 785 10/17 about when & where standin room only occurs . BTW it's LAUPT as per BNSF track warrants, not LAUS .

I didn't mean to imply that standing room only only occured in the summer, or only LAX to Sant Anna. I like LAUPT better too, but its LASU in the Metrolink timetable, and they now own all the track around and in the station, so what is BNSF doing issuing a Track Warrant on that track anyway? I guess its like DT Junction (ATSF) and West Los Nietos (SP) which refered to the same diamond.

About three of the cars have there DVD players working showing "The Rookie" One car the audio is very scratchy. Business Clasas is worth every doller of it on 785 which Friday and Sunday can be standing room only to LAX. 784 Friday and Sundays from LAX to San Juan and also Fridays and Sundays on both 774 and 775 Lax to San Juan, Amy peak travel period always pay the extra for Pacific Business Class,

Amazing! I rode business class on at least a half dozen different occasions and didn't think it would EVER get fixed. But I always ride for the scenery anyway so didn't really care.
