I have noticed that all of the amtrak engines have a blue and gray color scheme but the passenger cars have the old colors. Is there a possible change coming for the cars?

Not anytime soon. There have been slight changes though, like a wider ph IV blue stripe to match the current single-level ph IV scheme. A few 1700-series baggage cars along with other heritage equipment have received this treatment.
The latest superliners out of Beech Grove have a modified "Ph IVb" scheme. This includes no "superliner" stretched across the side, a new logo by the door, and a red stripe following the length of the car above the trucks.
Changing the entire fleet of equipment into the Acela wave would be too costly.

Yes! The latest Phase 17B/late modified was unveiled yesterday. This will be applied to one out of every five Superliner cars and the same stripe job upside down will be used on single level equipment. Also, Amtrak is going to be spelled backwards as "Kartma."

I was just wondering but is the reason why they are painting the word AMTRAK backwards (KARTMA) on the trains is for the benefit of the people who might try to outrun the train in their cars can at least know that they are getting hit by AMTRAK which would be the last thing they see in their rear view mirrors before they got hit?
