Jonathon, type in the URL of your site, there is a test page uploaded there that includes a link to the Member FAQ page that will answer your questions about uploading files and such. TrainWeb has been very good to me over the years with everything I've done with my site. I actually have two sites hosted there, my Amtrak site you might be familiar with, plus an older site I have about Conrail. The links are below:
The Conrail Site will get updated someday, not sure when, I'm really heavily involved with the Amtrak Site at this time. Actually, my Amtrak site is gonna get a facelift soon, as time permits as I now have a new version of Macromedia Dreamweaver, the program I used to design the Amtrak Site. The Conrail site was for the most part written "by hand" with HTML, thus there's no fancy Javascript on it outside of the pulldown menus.

Thanks! But I still dont know how to create web files to send to the site, would I need new software for that, or would Windows XP allready come with a program like that?

Designing and uploading a simple web page isn't difficult. But it's still way too complicated to go into on a board like this.
Before you can upload anything to Trainweb, you'll first have to completely design your page(s) in basic HTML, incorporating your GIF and JPEG images, titles, backgrounds, and body text.
Yes, there are various programs that will help you do this. Word, for example, can create rudimentary web pages -- although the results aren't great. But everyone's computer is different, so there's no way of telling what web design software may have been included with yours, if any.
If you use AOL or one of the other major Internet Service Providers, there should be a page on the ISP's site that will take you through the process of designing and uploading your own web pages, step by step.
If you use a smaller Internet Service Provider, search for "how-to" web sites on web page design -- or buy a book devoted to HTML.

Jonathon, do a search and you should find some free or really cheap basic web design tools out there. A good site to check out is http://www.htmlgoodies.com Look around there, they have a Downloads Section with some free tools. Let all of us know when you get your site online...

Jonathon, Macromedia Dreamweaver can be used to build your web pages, but I will tell you, this program is regarded by many to be the absolute best web design program in the world as it is used by professionals all over the world for web development. You can download a free 30 day trial of the program at http://www.macromedia.com and it will fully function, however after 30 days if you want to continue using it, you have to buy it and it's not cheap. There is an academic version of the program available through many major college bookstores at a greatly reduced price. As far as I know, it functions the same way as the retail version however you aren't supposed to use it to build sites for money, only for non-commercial, not for profit use, which running your site on TrainWeb should qualify for. Check with a major college or university bookstore in your area. I'm a college grad myself so I had to pay full price for the program when I bought it over 2 years ago, and have since had to pay to upgrade it twice! Take advantage of the cheap software available to you while you're a student! Good Luck!
