Me again...has anyone rode the above train recently? I read my travel log from 2001 the other day and remembered what fun I had! Thanks Becki

Good food, good crew, played a game of bingo in the diner with prizes (dinner for two, souvenirs, that sort of thing), scenery distinctly unremarkable.
That was a few years ago though.

I haven't ridden the Crescent since 1998, when I rode WAS to NOL. The crew and food were good, and if I recall, the train ran fairly close to schedule. Concerning scenery -- well, there's lots of trees on that route, but going through Georgia and Alabama in the morning, you pass through quite a few quaint little southern towns, which are kinda pretty to see. The 6-mile long Lake Pontchartrain causeway is rather impressive too...

yummykaz, In '97 I rode the Crescent from NYC to New Orleans in a Viewliner Sleeper. I remember going through the Deep South that summer night and seeing thousands of fireflies (called lightning bugs north of the Mason-Dixon line). The fireflies flickered outside the darkened streamliner windows for miles and miles.

Does anyone know if this train is experiencing the same shortage of viewliner sleepers as the LSL ?
