I just entered the sweepstakes .The prize from LA is a round trip to Phoenix. How will they do this,as Amtrak doesn't go to Phoenix anymore? Sounds like a long trip on a bus .

It looks as if Amtrak's "Senior Vice President of Contests" could have given a bit more serious thought to the L.A.-Phoenix component. Any trip that entails a total of five hours on an Amtrak bus is definitely no prize.
Last year at this time, the railroad was raffling off a Grand Prize trip for four, by Deluxe sleeper, to any Amtrak destination in the country.
This year, all you get is two overnight coach tickets to a B-list city (i.e. New York-Atlanta) plus five hundred bucks.

I agree its a poorly designed prize. I entered San Fancisco as my departure city, but I live 120 miles away, so it doesn't count. The award is a trip from SF to Seattle. Why can't I enter to ride from Salinas? It's the same train for crine out loud!

I think I'll enter my inlaws. They live within 25 miles of Orlando and while they probably aren't interested in the rail trip to Savannah, they probably would take it for the $500.00 spending money.....
As for myself, I don't live within 300 miles of any of these starting points. This is one 'great' contest.
