Hi all. I'm planning a trip from La Crosse, Wis., to Washington, D.C., with my children, ages 4 and 9, at the end of June. We are somewhat experienced train travelers, but have never been on the Capitol. I've already asked some specific questions about this trip here, but am wondering if those who are familiar with this train could give me tips on any particular quirks, good and bad, about this train and this trip. The three of us are booked into one deluxe bedroom both ways between Chicago and D.C.

This is a great train, I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip. My one tip would be that to see the best scenery, get up early in the morning shortly after leaving Pittsburgh and watch out the right side (facing the front)of the train for great scenery as the train travels through the mountains. If your bedroom window isn't on the right side, just go up to the sightseer lounge. Also- Washington D.C. Union Station is a great one with lots of shops, eateries, etc. The Metro in D.C. is great for getting around town as it is inexpensive, clean, fast, and safe. -Coachclass www.geocities.com/coachseatsPosts: 78 | From: Des Moines, IA | Registered: Mar 2003
