On 11/26/01 I rode on Amtrak Train #765 The Consist of six cars. Two coaches, two Cafes one Business Class And one Cabcar. Then on 11/29/01. I had rode on Train #784. This Train had a Consist of five cars. This Train one Superliner (#31046) Coach/Baggage, two Cafe Cars, Business Class and a Cabcar (which was B/O). I know about the two wrecks involving the Surfliner Route other with other wrecks. But. Was is the rest of the new Cars? Because having two cafe cars on a train that is somewhat short is something different to see on Amtrak Trains now days. I know the Superliners are fill ins for out of service Surfliners and CalCars. I would like to know what cars are available for Big Travel Peak Times?

Sounds like a shortage. I saw an interesting "fill in" car on the Southwest Chief about a month ago. Instead of a Transition Dorm, there was an old Superliner I sleeper for the crew. With this setup, there was no way to reach the baggage car from the train. This surely was the result of a shortage of opperational Dorm cars. Most likely because in practically every wreck, the dorm and baggage get the worst of it.
