Next week I will be traveling to Los Angeles via the Texas Eagle and Sunset Limited, returning via the SW Chief and Eagle.
Upon departing Southern California for my return, I will be in Pasadena and will need to get to Los Angeles Union Station to catch the Chief. Is it possible to get to Los Angeles Union Station from Pasadena by rail? On a Saturday? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No problem. The Metro Gold Line trains will take you from as far east as Sierra Madre Villa (Current end of the line) to Union Station very quickly. You can also board at several stations in central Pasadena including Lake Avenue, Memorial Park and Del Mar where you will see the restoration work on the old Santa Fé station. The Los Angeles end of the Gold Line is right in Union Station at, if I remember correctly, Tracks 1 & 2.
I hope this helps.

How far is the closest Pasadena stop to the Rose bowl? I'd like the see the stadium when I am out there late this year.

I would guess Memorial Park. But you'd probably need to catch a cab. I grew up in the area and even graduated in the Rose Bowl. John Muir High School, Class of 1959.
