I will be taking the Sunset out to Maricopa en route to and from the International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix next month. Is the dome car still used as the Maricopa station? How long does it take to get there by car from downtown Phoenix at night? Is the station easy to find and in a safe area? Is there still no public transportation out there?

This info is old, but I was there in Oct 2003 and at that time the station was the dome car. There was a sign posted that said "White's Shuttle Service 520-568-4404". Maricopa is not really much of a town, -more like a few buildings. I think there was a restaurant and a convenience store. It is not hard to find the depot once you are in Maricopa. It is where the main (maybe only) road crosses the track.
