I'm seeing that a house panel has agreed to cut funding for long distance trains, and that routes will be cut soon.

Is this another scare, or are long distance trains finally coming to a halt?

If so, I need to take a final trip.

The Key words is "house panel". That is still a long way from a house vote if it ever gets there plus it has to then be voted on in the US Senate.

Side note: every day is a great day to plan and book another train trip. So go for a trip now!

You think they will go Chris? I really hope I wont be able to go on a LD train a year from now [Frown] .

Win or lose in the long run I plan a brief note of thanks to those representatives who have supported Amtrak and an equally brief missive to those who did not support a NATIONAL rail passenger system noting how many tourist dollars I will not be spending in their district since I can no longer arrive there by train.
