As you can probably tell, I am new to this board, and if this is out of place, I do apologize.
I will be taking my 3 daughters on the Coast Starlight from Eugene, OR to Disneyland. I have a couple of questions that I hope are not to repetitive (I have gone back and read through October, and didn't see this question).
Our final destination is Disneyland, and we have a hotel there. At first I was thinking just to go to LA Union Station, and then take a taxi. I thought this because I knew that we would most likely never make the connection with the 10:10 pm Pacific Surfliner. After reading, it sounds like that if I book a ticket through to Anaheim, there will be a bus that will take us down.
Here are my questions: 1. Is it true that if I book us through to Anaheim, there will be a bus down to the station? 2. Is Anaheim a good station to try and get a taxi at that time of night, or would Fullerton or Santa Ana stations be better? (I am planning on contacting a cab company beforehand and then being able to call them once we are close to the station). 3. Any suggestions to make a trip with 3 young daughters even more enjoyable?
All of us are looking forward to the train portions of our trip as much as the Disneyland portions to our trip. We have reserved 2 Roomettes down and back (the Family Bedroom is sold out both ways).

I'm not sure about the specific circumstances, but if you book through to Anaheim, and your train is too late to make a connection, Amtrak is still obligated to get you there. If the connection is a dedicated Amtrak Thruway bus, the bus will always wait for the train. If for some reason the bus can't wait, Amtrak should provide you with a taxi.
That happened to us on our last trip home. The bus to Monterey from Salinas had to leave the station to make its next run, so Amtrak had a taxi waiting for us when we got off. The nice part about that was the taxi took us straight home instead of to the Monterey bus stop.

The Anaheim station is at the tip of the Anaheim Angels (I mean Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) stadium field. I have been there at night, and it seems pretty safe.
Fullerton and Santa Ana are just as good. There are quite a few people out and about, even at the middle of the night, so it's not like they are completely deserted. There is occasionally a homeless person camping out there, but they are harmless.
Bring games along, or something they like doing to pass the time. As a youngster, time passes much more slowly, so they will be bored more quickly.

I am in car 1130 & 1430 on the Starlight. I am guessing that 11 & 14 are the train numbers. Can anybody tell me what the 30 means? I am assuming that is the car number.

Found out what it means. 30 is the first sleeper, 31 second, etc.
