In June I am taking train 29 to Chicago and then the CZ on west. Is it reasonable to think I can make the connection? Of late the train has been close to on time. Thanks.

As with anything concerning the LD's nowadays, it is a crapshoot. However, the connection is "guaranteed", which means that Amtrak is obligated to "look out for you". If traveling Sleeper, that will mean hotel until you can be reaccomodated or a 'catch up' flight. If Coach, it probably means until you can be reaccomodated (quite likely next day).
At present, and considering I am of age and mindset that the "best surprise is no surprise', there are simply too many uncertaintaies for me to consider further LD travel -

Going westbound you should have no problem connecting in Chicago. You should have a few hours between trains. Its going the other direction there might be a problem, but as Mr. Norman said Amtrak is obligated to get you to your final desitnation with a guarenteed connection.
