Hmmm. Thanks for pointing it out. But I'm not real impressed. It took a very long time to load with a DSL connection. Don't even try it on dial-up. Once it got going it seemed to work OK, but when I tried to close it, it crashed my browser. I'm not sure its ready for prime time.

Ditto. I use dial-up and my system freezes when I even try to download.

I did not have any problems loading/unloading it, but it seems it really does not have any new information, just a more fancy look.

It's too slow for my computer.

Mr Toy, are you back from your Queen Mary trip already? How was everything? Lovely, I hope. How were the trains???

Gave up after 10 minutes the first time I tried it. Just tried it again and Firefox stated "read tickets.amtrak.com" which normally means it's complete. However, it's just a blank, pale blue screen. One suspects Amtrak doesn't support Firefox - thus ruling out something like 15% of their customers.

In all fairness to Amtrak, they do note that Macromedia Flash Player and "Hi-Speed" connection is needed to support the interactive map.

Since my existing Win 98 system cannot support Flash and a new computer that presumably can, is not budgeted until 2007, and a High Speed connection until 2008, I cannot access this new feature and accordingly pass judgement thereon.

Thank God I read the other posts before going to that site. I'm not even going to try.

It worked like a charm for me, although it doesn't really seem to have information that I couldn't find in print. Fun to play with, though. I have a Mac and a cable connection. Maybe that makes the difference. I did have to install Flash, first, however, which was quick and easy.

Sojourner, I think you have me confused with Mr. Toy unless he's also planning a transatlantic crossing this month! We sail at 5PM from Cape Liberty, NJ. Google Krooz-cam and you'll find the URL for cameras on most cruise ships. We will be on the Constellation. Remember that the bridge cams will be dark at night but the internet lab and cafe cams should work 24/7.

Frank is cool, soon to be dark SBA

I tried the Interactive Route Guide on my home computer on a cable modem connection and it immediately froze the computer.

Today at work with the High-Speed T-1 connection, it worked fine and was interesting to explore. It doesn't seem to be "new" information, just what is on the Amtrak web site rearranged.
