I hope it is not inappropriate to announce here that I have opened a little on-line shop offering shirts, stickers, mugs, etc. which promote passenger rail. Some of the items are specific to promoting revival of the Del Monte to Monterey, but most are intended to show support for passenger trains in general.

My little store is called the Del Monte Club Car Gift Shop I will make no furher promotion of the store here, but you can always find it through links at my informational website the Del Monte Club Car, which you are all familiar with in my signature.

Mr Toy, cool stuff, but I don't wear T-shirts and who would ever see my mug? I'd definitely buy and use a bumper sticker, but not one for the Del Monte Club Car (here in the east esp).

How about ones that say . . .

My other car is . . . AMTRAK (or "a passenger train")

Save gas, ride AMTRAK! (or TRAINS)

Tell Congress: support AMTRAK

I'd rather be on the train (I already have that one)

See America . . . ride AMTRAK

AMTRAK . . . they get you there (eventually)

Others may have other suggestions

I'd also be interested in buttons with some of these on them.

Hmmm, shipping US$5 to the US, yet only US$7 to the UK. And with the US/UK exchange rate plummeting to a favourable (to the UK) figure, I might just buy something!

I have no qualms about such one-off advertising as it's on-topic.

Hee, hee. You know, in all of the time I spent designing graphics and getting this ready, I hadn't even thought about that! I just used the default product name on everything. Maybe I should change it to railroader's hat.

I'd like to offer more than one bumper sticker but for the free store option, Cafepress only allows one design per item. So I had to pick and choose which designs would be most appropriate for which items. Perhaps one day I'll upgrade and have the ability to offer a wider variety.

Sojourner, I plan to offer buttons sometime, but I haven't had time to design one yet. I'm not using the name "Amtrak" or anything else that is trademarked, since this is a commercial venture (albeit a very tiny one). I'd like to offer a license plate frame that says "My other car is a Superliner." I wrote to Amtrak asking permission to do that - or alternatively that they sell one in their own store - but I haven't heard back.

Jonathon, if you're still thinking about it, e-mail or IM me and I'll be happy to give you the benefit of my experience in setting up shop.

Thanks for the notes of encouragement, all.
