While there is often reason to grouse about some aspects of Amtrak and its service I was pleasantly surprised this week when I had occasion to transfer quite a few Guest Rewards points to my OnePass account at Continental. The transfer was all handled electronically and they were gone from Guest Rewards and in OnePass in 24 hours--or less.

Yes. Just as easy. As a matter of fact, I was "taking back" some OnePass miles I'd transferred to Guest Rewards. I found that I needed them for an Around The World Ticket at OnePass more than I did at Amtrak. Since I am a Guest Rewards Select Member, I was able to transfer 50,000 points to 50,000 OnePass miles.

I've turned Continental OnePass miles into Amtrak Guest Rewards points on two occasions. Both times, the Continental phone reps were pleasant and efficient, but seemed slightly baffled that anyone would make such a bizarre request: "So. . . uh. . . you want to convert your air miles into Amtrak points?"
