Since we'll be on #14 to SJC on 02/12/02 I've been checking arrivals. It's been pretty good (an hour or so within scheduled time) but I noticed that the arrival scheduled for 02/02 was actually at about 6:30AM on the morning of the 3rd. Anybody have any clue as to what happened?

Frank, see here:

Mechanical problems and then an engine derailed. No one hurt but extreme delay.

Thanks, Vicki. Maybe it's time for me to bite the bullet and join trainorders.com!

You don't have to join to view the forum but you do have to put up with occasional advertisements if you are not a member. I often find interesting things there although they are more serious and technically oriented than us crazies here.

With family scheduled to take the Coast Starlight between Salinas and Seattle next week, I’ve been monitoring the arrival times closely as well. And yep, I’m nervous! An 8 or 9 hour delay would certainly cut into their already too short visit. We tried to convince them to fly into Seattle and do the train on their return trip, but they are determined to do it the other way around. Nothing to do but keep our fingers crossed!
