We're heading out on the Lake Shore Ltd wednesday and I've been checking on the arrival status the last few days. Five to 8 hours late into Chicago seems to be typical. The snow delays should be over by now, so are there other issues causing this?

Thanks,
Dave

I did the same in late January/early February. The delays seem to be intermittent. Going out, the Boston section was 20 minutes late into Back Bay; coming back, the Late Shore Ltd was about 50 minutes late.

This was, however, before all that snow hit upper New York State.

I'd just plan for more train time to enjoy.

Am heading out on the LSL from Springfield, MA this afternoon. Train (which is scheduled to leave Boston at noon) is listed a 1 hour 35 minutes late before it even leaves Boston.

We had a light snowfall last nite of about 2 inches. This should make the trip through the Berkshires quite lovely with the fresh look of newly fallen snow.

Just received phone call from Amtrak -- Bustitution to Albany. Not to pleased as I was looking forward to the ride through the Berkshires on the train and not on a bus on the Mass Pike and NY Thruway.

Even though the snow has stopped falling, the equipment is still frozen.

At least you aren't stuck in an airport for hours or days like many many people. Also you aren't stuck on a plane for 11 hours just sitting there on the tarmac.

Looks like the past 2 days have been better for the LSL. We're either catching it in Albany or NYP tomorrow afternoon/evening and going to Chicago. We're heading back on the Capitol Ltd so as long as it gets into Chicago before 7pm, we'll be okay....

the bus was an Amtrak miscommunication. However on Monday the westbound LSL was rerouted by way of Detroit which added 6 hours to the trip.
Most people missed their connecting trains. I am in Chicago for the second nite. The CZ has been cancelled and I am rebooked for tomorrow unless they cancel again. They are saying avalanche -- but have been lied to a lot yesterday and today. My stay in San Francisco is not happening and am hoping that I can at least salvage the San Diego portion of this trip.

Another western NY train (Niagara Falls, I think) was about 1-3/4 hours getting to Albany today. All trains west of Albany are still having trouble.

Dee, I am so sorry about your woes. I hope that you at least have been able to take some advantage of Chicago. It's been a rough winter in many parts of the country, blizzards and tornados all over the place today. There are very bad delays in airports too, and some roads closed as well, e.g., the Interstate thru Nebraska.
