Hello all,

I'm trying to determine availability of bedrooms for my Amtrak Guest Rewards trip from FTW to CHI and back this summer. When I look at Amtrak's web site, sometimes I don't see bedrooms for 21/22 but I do see them for 421/422. Isn't this the same train? What is the difference between them?

Also, does Amtrak limit the number of bedrooms that you can book with AGR? That is, if rooms are available can I book through AGR?

Thanks,

Mark

The difference between 22 and 422 is one is the thru sleeper operating to/from LA and the other is the dedicated sleeper for the Eagle.

As to availability for AGR, I don't know.

If they are still operating this train the way they did when I was last on it in July 2005, the 422 sleeper is the one which originates in Los Angeles. It is the last car on the train and you will have to walk through the coaches to get to the lounge or diner.

The 22 sleeper is generally near the front of the train....just ahead of the diner.

In November 2006 422 was operating as David says. The great advantage of the sleeper being at the rear is that you can take great photographs, and the walk to the diner at least gives you some exercise! It stayed on the rear from San Antonio, and we only lost the view when an additional coach was added at St Louis.
