OK, Proloz's post has got me started thinking about my upcoming trip from Milwaukee to the Seatlle area on the EB in late September. My main reason for going to SEA instead of PDX and home is to visit an elderly aunt who is in Lynnwood, WA. That is closer to Everett than Seattle. Does anyone know what the rental car situation is at Everett?

A quick Google search shows Hertz, Enterprise, and Avis offices in Everett; the Hertz office is less than a mile from the station and all three are within 3 miles of the station.

We made the same, (MKE-EVR), trip in Oct. 05. We rented from the Hertz in downtown Everett. As I recall, there is a direct Hertz phone line located right in the train station. Hertz quickly picked us up and took us the few blocks to their location where we completed the paperwork. Pretty easy matter to get from there to the interstate. Overall fast and simple. Would do the same thing if we go back again. Nice station in Everett, by the way.

Thanks for all the info. My aunt has moved to a place that is closer to Seattle so we will probably ride on in to Seattle and visit her from there.
