Check it out...no longer does it say "service East of New Orleans has been suspended."

Now it says "service East of New Orleans, between Biloxi and Lake City, has been suspended." ?

Also, all station stops between Lake City and Bay St. Louis have been removed from the station list.

Clearly, they made it a point not to say service East of New Orleans in its entirety is suspended.

Perhaps...and this is only a guess....they'll restart NOL-ORL service in the near future, with stops in JAX, Palatka, DeLand, Winter Park.

Maybe they'll start with that and work from there...or maybe someone is just having fun screwing with Sunset's page on Amtrak.com.

Regardless, it is strange.

Simple: Bay St. Louis MS to Lake City FL, inclusive are the points that have lost all service. The points Jacksonville to Orlando still have train service, just not to/from New Orleans.

Hmm. Honestly I never thought of it that way. That makes a lot of sense.

Such a shame...

Are there any new rumors surfacing about service restoration or termination? It seems there was recently talk online of increased service, then the Amtrak board cutting service. Who knows what to believe anymore. [Eek!]
