I travelled roundtrip on the Starlight in the last month, and both times we had at least 5-10 minutes there. I believe we had a crew change there also. Andy

It was a smoke stop both of the trips I've made on the Coast Starlight (2002 and 2005).....primarily because it's a crew change.

If you want an hour with your friend why not tell him to get on at SLO with you, travel to Paso Robles and get the local bus back to SLO? (or the other way around depending on which way you are travelling)
It's only $13 train fare and about $2 on the local bus....just a thought!
