According to UP Dispatcher 74 this very--very LATE Train 5 of the 1st from Chicago will TURN in Reno NV. Train 6 of the 4th will Originate in Reno on Sunday 5-4-08 (NO Donner Pass for this train either) . This train 5 was scheduled to arrive Emeryville (Oakland) tonight but will not now.
No Donner Pass or California for this train tonight 5-3-08 saturday . This was monitored at 8:19PM PDT 5-3-08 on the excellent Doyle railroadradio dot net feed (Cal--Neva East). DS 74 is talking about Wyeing the consist at Sparks after the big stop downtown at Reno NV.
This early turnaround is a special move because this train is so very tardy. Sundays train 5 should likely continue into California. That is the latest on the long saga of this almost 12 hour late train at one point. The Burlington, Iowa bridge collision is what caused this one train only to detour the long route via Kansas City and St Joseph, Mo and back to Lincoln , NE.

WOW! I'm assuming they bussed folks from Reno to the Bay Area. Luckily, the bus trip isn't too long: About 2 hrs on I 80 to SAC and then about 2 to 2.5hrs from SAC to EMY...so about 4.5 hrs total.

#5(01) (The train that was turned in Reno) departed SLC at 10:33am...
#5(02) (Today's Donner train) departed SLC at 7:45am. So, it's doin' a little better than yesterday's, but not by much.
