Does anyone know if the ongoing fires in California have had an effect on the Coast Starlight? I've noticed that the CS has been pretty late into Seattle on several occasions over the last few days.

As far as I know it has not been late due to the fires.

I've been in touch with a friend who lives in Redding (RDD) and she says the smoke there right now is hellish. There is a fire just three miles outside of town. A friend in Reno said the same day before yesterday. I dont think service has been affected but breathing may be difficult through both of those areas.

Frank in relatively clear SBA.

Even here in the SF Bay Area the air is bad. The whole area smells like smoke (especially yesterday morning) and I've been breathing heavier than usual. Gosh - 800 fires in CA at one time!
