I have a wall calendar that notes today as Railroad Day in the US. Anyone heard of this before? Doesn't say who/ designated it as such.

No poem yet.

I have no idea who designated today as Railroad Day, but let's celebrate it anyway. Hell, let's celebrate it 24/7/365!

The first annual National Train Day was May 10th of this year. I've never heard of Railroad Day. In checking Google, there was a Railroad Day in DC back in March......

And there is apparently an annual Railroad Day in Montana (23rd annual for them) tomorrow with a parade.

My calendar says today is "Andy Day". Oh wait, I wrote that on there. [Wink]

Galesburg IL has a "Railroad Days" fest each year, including an open house at the BNSF yards and shop (photography permitted). Such is quite a "mecca" for the railfan community in these parts, and is always the last weekend of June.

Jarrod:

Autonomedia: Radical Heroes for the new Millenium Calendar. That and more at www.autonomedia.org

I read it before heading out each day to do battle with the empire. Just as the submariners slapped the photo of Betty Grable (sp?)in 'Run Silent, Run Deep' as they passed it on the way to their battle stations. I think that was the film. Burt Lancaster and Clark Gable.
