I just got back from another weekend roundtrip Austin-San Antonio. 22/422 had 3 coaches, diner, lounge, 3 sleepers. The 422 sleeper was not on the back - they were all together at the front. The train had been sitting in SAS since 9:30 last night (on-time arrival from LAX) so they had plenty of time to re-arrange.
When we got to Austin I noticed that the station was staffed. This is new! The station has been unstaffed Sat & Sun for several years. I also noticed right away that the agent was loading checked luggage. This is also new! Excellent!! There has been no checked luggage from Austin for years. I did not understand this.
I will be moving to San Antonio a week from today. I am looking forward to better accessibility East/West; even if it is only 3 days/week, at least I won't have the 'stopped time' mentioned above. I am already planning a trip to NOL in January and CA in April.

Interesting to learn, Mr. Miami, that you observed a Lounge Car in consist of #22, as the timetable effective October 26 does not show a Lounge but rather X-Country Cafe.

Well, Mr. Miami, it seems as if your triennial "relo" continues (let's see; San Francisco....Austin...now San Antonio...next?). I guess such is what your Priesthood calls for.
Otherwise, I observed both #21(12) and #22(11) at CUS yesterday - both had a #370XX Diner AND a #330XX Lounge in consist. It would appear that the timetable writers and whoever plans consists 'ain't on the same page".
