I'm leaving tomorrow on my first long-distance trip since June 2006. This should be a good one. Lakeshore (westbound, roomette)-Cardinal (eastbound, roomette)-Red Eye Regional (northound, biz)-Lakeshore BOS section (westbound, bedroom because it was $6 more than a roomette). This should take 3.0 days if all goes well. I promise I'll write up a trip report!

Have a nice trip. Make sure your Guest Rewards number is on your reservation so that you get the miles!

I've not been on the Cardinal since the Superliners left. I need to figure out a way to do something about that!

David, my personal opinion re the Cardinal is you are not missing anything by not having ridden the single level edition

Almost two weeks after I left, I'm finally caught up on sleep. It was a memorable trip. I saw some new parts of the country and refreshed my memories of others, met some interesting people, and got used to life on the rails again. I'd hoped to find out I still enjoy long train rides. I do. This should serve as my personal threat to take more long train rides, especially with the triple-points AGR bribe announced today. I'll post more details soon; I need to get in touch with a travelogue-writing friend for advice.
