Phillips has LONG been THE transportation journalism specialist. Heck, he used to write for Passenger Train Journal in the 70s ... his article was "The Potomac Pundit" even then...
I think WSJ has a couple of folks who specialize in transportation. But that's it, nationwide! Transportation journalism does not attract paying readers in general press.

Mr. Phillips has always been a great railroading journalist. If he's on Oprah, I'll be sure to bring my tissues. I wonder if he could be a Senator?

Mr. Phillips is a very good journalist. He has monthly column in Trains magazine. This month, he's talking about the new Amtrak president David Gunn. If you get a chance, read the article. I found it interesting.

Phillips is a good "Transportation" writer. He does good stuff on air too.
