"Shock and awe," Mr. Black. I like it!

By the way, are these screening devices safe for pregnant women? Wonder if they can tell the *** of the fetus and/or the body count in utero?

Mike,
They're not strong enough to do that. This isn't an x-ray so no bones or internal stuff will show up, only the stuff attached outside the body. So the scenario Yukon11 mentioned in his post of the 17th would not be detected in these machines.

Mr Norman, all... that is ALL of the screening done at all of the US airports for the past 9 years has not captured one terrorist. Not a single one. It is nothing more than a dog & pony show for the sheeple.

And I do not have a "strict" interpretation, I use the plain English interpretation of the 4th.

And no the video does not show that the "majority" of the travelers accept the screenings. Do you have access to the raw video shot by the news show? What you see is what the news show wants you to see.

Radiation from the scanner is not the issue, the eroding of our Constitutional rights is the objective for the porno scans and/or groping.

Fortunately, I have no scheduled flights before the middle of 2012.

(Hope I covered all the points)

When you stop and think about this.. The shoe bomber was supposed to fail. If he had succeeded, we may have never known it was a shoe bomb. Because we do know, each and every traveler in the US MUST remove his shoes before boarding a plane.

The underwear bomber was not supposed to succeed. He was supposed to scare us into even more stringent restrictions. Both ploys were brilliant Al Qaida plots designed to harass the citizens of their enemy.

On the other hand Howard Kurtz, the respected former media critic of the Washington Post, now Daily Beast staffer, has this to say:

For some, maybe it's time for a group wallow in schadenfreude:

And New York Times readers share their TSA stories:

OK, so the radiation is not supposed to go more than skin deep. I do not want to be one of the guinea pigs that is part of the test sample on either side to find out that people who make regular trips by air and submit themselves to this indignity also suffer higher rates of skin cancers than those who do not.

The stuff may not truly penetrate the skin, but it does affect the skin. So far I have seen no numbers, just unverified (and probably unverifiable) comparisons between the effects of these things and the effects of simply being at airplane flight elevations. If the numbers prove their contentions, let's have them.

It comes back to a lesson long ago learned: If someone gives a complex or indirect answer to a simple question, they are lying to you.

A spot check at 6:20 a.m. CST today shows coach seats AND sleeper rooms still available on today's No. 5, No. 7 and No. 30 out of Chicago. (No. 3 is sold out.)

Don't know what this shows about people flocking to Amtrak instead of flying. At least on the LD trains.

I would imagine that anyone taking an ld train has already gone which could explain the available seats. On the news last night they said that Amtrak was putting all it's cars on .

Just saw on the NBC web site that Amtrak expects 127,000 passengers. I couldn't believe the lines of people shown in the picture. Much much, much longer than usual waiting to board the northern trains.

Possibly this is the material to which Ms. Train Lady refers:

No, the one I was watching showed Union Station in DC. people were lined up as usual for the noth east BUT this time the line was very much longer. The info on both was prety much the same. We went out to Denver one year for tgiving and left the weekend before. There wsn't a empty seat or room going east or west.

How soon will it be when enhanced screening comes to Amtrak?

http://www.cahsrblog.com/2010/11/janet-napolitanos-reckless-and-ignorant-rail-screening-proposal/

And maybe to sports stadiums, opera houses, malls, etc?

Anyway, I am more concerned about an explosive, placed on the tracks, by terrorists to derail trains. Expecailly on the tracks of high speed trains.
