Is there a site that tells why trains are late? I just checked the status of the Crescent (NYP-ATL)and see that it's about 2 hours late into ATL. The status report on Amtrak is about the same, but no reason. Just curious.

Click on the map for the region of the country and then click on the trains number..... in this case the red #19 which departed Gainesville, GA two hours and four minutes late.
By clicking on the number you get a printout station-by-station. In the case of #19 departing NYP on April 4, you can see that the train was just 6 minutes late leaving Washington, 45 minutes late out of Alexandria, VA but almost two and a half hours late in departing Manassas.
That's close to 150 minutes lost in just 33 miles. I'm going to guess equipment problems (maybe a locomotive failure) with the train itself.
