Good for Amtrak. Enforce the rule regardless of who it is:

I would presume Gov. Christie was riding Acela 2160 departing Wash 1000A, but with a 955A gate closing.

Another news release said Christie was gentlemanly about the mistake and moved off to the café car.

Yes, Richard, that was what the news release from his office said.

I am sure he didn't mean to get on the Quiet Car, but other PAX say he was yelling or barking orders, and that's really inappropriate on a train, even if you are not in the Quiet Car. I ride Empire Service all the time, which has no Quiet Car, but PAX who are too loud are still considered rude and obnoxious.

However, being rude and obnoxious seems to be doing very well in Christie's political party lately. And I don't even mean Christie, hahaha.

My daughter (age 9 at the time) talks much of the time in spite of constant reminders to talk softly and that the entire world does not want to hear what she is thinking.

She does, however, treat posted regulations with reverence. This past summer we spent 45 minutes in the Quiet Car on a crowded commuter train and my daughter, upon my wife pointing the 'Quiet Car' signage out to her, was silent for the entire ride.

It worked so well that I considered making some quiet car signs for my POV.
