Did anyone watch this episode? It looked like it was filmed on a real train travelling north through CA along the coast. Just wondering if it was the Coast Starlight, but was doubtful because of the first class seating and the big club chairs in the bar car. Perhaps other CA trains have that amenity.

I have AT&T U-Verse as my cable provider, so I clicked on the tab and was able to watch the episode.
I really can't answer your question, Mary. It could have been the Coast Starlight, but I have never seen those plush, black seats on the Starlight. Possibly they are part of business class seating, but I've never taken business class on the CS, so I don't know. The outside scenery does look like it could be the scenery along the route of the Starlight, with the ocean side in the background. I tend to think, perhaps, that they use a true train interior, but I don't think they shot the scenes on a moving train, as the passengers didn't seem to walk, awkwardly, through the aisles.

Green Screen? The scenery was real but the interiors were probably at the same facility in Pacoima that houses lots of aircraft interiors.
Earlier they did an episode where they flew to Hawaii on Continental. The interiors were done on set but the exteriors were at LAX and the F/A's were real CO.
Frank just back from MAD and BNA where I didn't ride any trains but did ride the Madrid Metro. Fast and clean and relatively inexpensive.

Obviously shot on a sound stage, but the writers definitely have experience with Amtrak's long distance train network.

Let's give 5 seconds of "real" to the Surfliner arriving at LAUPT.
