Here's a new airplane seat design that converts into a bed. http://www.airlinequality.com/feature/ANA_F_seat.htm

I wonder if something similar might work in a 21st Century slumbercoach revival.

How does this differ from the arrangement Mr. Sleepless Traveler shared here with this Forum?

But alas, isn't Mr. Toy the fellow who has stated that he prefers coach travel to sleeper (here and RRNET)?

Gilbert, I didn't say I preferred coach, only that I like coach. I especially like coach fares.

I think Sleepless Traveler had a stacked seating system.

I don't blame you. Whenever I do a long distance train trip it's the sleeping car for me. I don't sleep in seats well. lol!

On a trip to Sweden and Norway a few years ago, I traveled overnight from Trondheim to Oslo. I was in a second class car, in a two-berth room I had all to myself. Directly behind our car was an interesting car with "sleeper seats"; each seat reclined almost flat, and was enclosed by a frame with a luggage rack on top and curtains on the sides for privacy. This looked much like airline "sleeper seats". Worth trying here?
