Was on 4(17) on the 19th Kansas City to Galesburg. It had a lovely two hour delay into Kansas City, and then it dropped another 20 minutes into Galesburg.

I checked for delays, both announcements and on Twitter. Nope.

Twitter messages Amtrak delays. They claim 4 dropped the time across Arizona owing to it going in the hole for freights.

It seems to me Messrs Buffett and Rose are running BNSF and its provision of time on the line the way Mr Biaggini did for Espee and it’s passenger service in in the 60s.

We shall see what happens on the back haul Monday.

Think you drew the short straw. Only twice in past month was it more than 2 hours late into GBB Other than delays, what was the trip like?

Amtrak does not push WiFi through the coaches.

The coaches are more comfortable than current airline seats, but far less comfortable than Sleepy Hollow (tm) seats were in the day.

Mr Buffett’s trains are pounding the snot out of the ATSF mainline!

Amtrak does not have enough dining car space to deal with all who want lunch in the diner.

The train was oversold. The lounge car was used as primary seating.

The lounge car menu is worse than most “roach coach” food trucks.

Sounds like Mr Anderson's statement (threat?) that he was going to maximize use of equipment and not run cars with minimal loads is a reality. The ability to not be a sardine is one of Amtrak's key benefits, or used to be.

My one trip on the City of St. Louis was in the summer of 1967. I made a trip from Greeley, CO to New Orleans by way of that train and the St. Louis connection of the Panama Ltd. What I wouldn't give to be able to do that again. I remember the porter was friendly but professional. Amtrak could use lessons.

Today 4 is ahead of 6, an hour late

6 is an hour 15 late.

On 3(22) heading from Galesburg to KansasCity. After LaPlata, and before we crossed the Missouri River at Sibley,, we dropped 47 minutes to go into the hole for BNSF freight.

We were already 10 minutes down when we boarded, thus the current delay is an hour

Colonel, so much with regards to the contention that the LD's comprise a group of mini corridors. An hour late, absent some emergency (and opposing traffic, on what I thought was a double tracked road, simply is not), does not speak well for the apparent "new role" of the LD's.

Has Procurement placed an order for the Adios drumheads?

The Missouri River Bridge at Sibley is only single track...

Double track goes single about 1/2 mile from the bridge on both sides of the river
