Commuter trains are just that so why subdivide?

I am hoping it might attract some people to this subject, especially since the last thing I saw under this category was "Mag-Lev trains."

Actually I would like to post more info here, but my "free time" is usually on weekends and many services do not run on weekends.

With Metrolink it's a great way to see some otherwise untraveled rails (up to Lancaster; old Santa Fe route to San Bernardino)
