Today(1/5/01), while traveling around Delta, OH, I decided to go down the country road on the west side of the Delta Hill(I&0). Driving down the deadend road, I encountered snow drifts and ruts, but my little S-10 made all the way to the end. At the end of the road, I would make a turn to the left into former DT&I yard office parking lot and I would be home free.

Not so easy as I thought. I got hung up to the frame with snow before my turn. I tried evering thing to get free. Finally I gave up.

Walking about a half mile up the road, I got lucky. Another railfan with a four wheel drive pulled up to help.

With a tow chain and a little work, the driver of the four wheel drive pulled me out of the drift. From there, I was able to back down the road.

When he asked me if I wanted to stay, I told him I was going to leave.

After all this trouble, I was able to see two westbounds pass each other on the NS side. Not a bad prize form a little absent minded thinking.

PS If you don't own a four wheel drive, don't go there. ;-)

I went on a little journey in a futile attempt to catch one of the new NS SD70Ms. After striking out, I decided to head home. I was in no hurry, but I was clocked by a law enforcement officer who refused to do anything but issue a citation in the full amount.

What ticks me off is that I was in a hurry on the original leg of the journey; I was in no hurry on my way home when I was "speeding."

Go figure....
