Where can I find a list of 4-letter roadnames for private contracted companies? A lot of them end in "X" and an obvious one is CSTX. But what about FURX, HATX, HACL, and other anacronym sets? They have been seen on both locos and rolling stock equally, and I would like to develop a list

Thanks. it helps a little, but none of my local sightings match. they have all been 4-character "numberboards" and mostly end with X. i think this means that its a non-railroad company contracting units out. what do you think? Thanks

As far as I know, ---X designates a private non-railroad owner, and is used on leased or shipper-owned equipment. For example DOWX - Dow Chemical TTX - Trailer Train (Jointly owned by several railroads, but not a railroad itself) GONX - RailGon, the shared gondola pool BORX - Borax Company There are companies that lease locomotives, such as LMX, which I think is Leasing Management Services. Morrison-Knudson also leased locomotives but I do not recall the letters.

Can you tell me where I can find GATX or FURX? I think these arefrom leasing companies.
