Do trains still use AUTOMATIC AIR BRAKES? Or perhaps a variation of the AAB?

Joey,

Perhaps there is something about your question that I do not understand. This is fairly well true world wide. As to the US / Canada / Mexico: The braking system is part of the standardizaton of equipment for interchange. The "automatic" part comes from the nature of the systen in that it applies the brakes in case of a loss fo air pressure in the brake line.
