Members: What can be done for a noisy locomotive motor?? In particular, a Bachmann motor. Once, in a while, I will have an engine start to, "growl", especially when accelerating. The growl is constant, but when I reduce the amount of current to the motor, it suddenly quiets down. Re apply the electric current and it starts all over again! I know I can return the locomotive to the manufacturer......but what, if anything, can I do, to remedy this problem? Richard

Richard,
Like many others out there, we all have those noisy Bachmann engines. I have 2 (D8-40C and a GP30). Try this, take off the shell, run it around the layout and listen. See how much more silent it becomes. I think it is something to do with the shell and the lighting unit. Once the shell goes on, the growl is back. I have tried numerous things, nothing seems to work.
Maybe someone else has an idea.
