MR magazine reviewed the HO Kato SD-2 in Aug 99. At that time the model was marred by potential electrical problems with the circuit board-copper strips. www.katousa.com may have a recommendation posting to correct this problem but I have seen others posts suggesting that all that has to be done is "solder the copper strips from the motor to the board" The unit weights in at 17.5 oz, draw pull:3.7 oz(51 cars) 18" radius

My apologies, I took the subject to be SD-2 which is your new address, anyway I will keep on trucking. ModelRailroadNews did a review on the KatoSD-2 Snoot Nose in June 2000 and I suspect Kato improved on the electrical-circuit problem since I don't have a problem. My Snoot easily pulls 24 cars at 101 MPH. If you wish a copy of either review I can mail them to you.Let me know at www.locomotive3@prodigy.net.Posts: 213 | From: Grand Rapids Mi USA | Registered: Apr 2001

Hi all, SD40-2, I have two Kato locos, a GP35, and a Stewart F-3 (Kato drive), both are superb performers. They are the workhorses of my R.R. Happy modelling, Bobby.
