I'd like to know if anyone out there besides me would like to see the EMD sd45 tunnel motor done by kato, atlas ,athearn or any plastic shell manufacturer like rail power.
The industry doesnt seem to think that there is a demand for this unique locomotive. This
was the opinion of manufactures like atlas and kato when I approached them at the nmra convention in San Jose last year.I know that athearn has the sd40t-2,but kitbashing one into a sd45 tunnelmotor is too time consuming
plus I don't have $600.00 to drop everytime
overland makes a run of them.I just want to hear your opinion good or bad on if a company like athearn or Kato or atlas were to make a run of these units, would you buy them? even at $100.00 a pop? Now I realize that not everyone is into SP or modern day contemporary diesels, but if you do show an interest in this area please respond to show these companies that not everyone wants sd90's and second runs of c44-9's......

thanx Jeff

Not a bad idea- they might not have been the most popular engines out there, but I definately would add one to my roster. On the other hand, if you want just a few of them, they could be custom-built.........

Your only chance is to make your own. If you start today, you could have 200+ done by the time a commercial version is released.

There is a company here in CT called Trainstuff, LLC. They specialize in cast resin copies of models. If I were to construct a model of this engine, I could have cast resin copies made, to be sold at a reasonable price.
