Perhaps the A.C Gilbert Discovery Village in Salem, Oregon can help. It's a museum for kids honoring the work of Gilbert. Gilbert was the inventor of the erector set and the distributor for American Flyer trains. They've built a monument to Gilbert and an extensive archive of information in Salem. Perhaps they might be able to steer you in the right direction. Sorry I don't have their number.
