Does anyone here own a Athearn Amtrak F59 Locomotive(HO Scale) in the Surfliner Paint Scheme? If so, If it's not to much, Can you measure the height of the F59 Loco? I need to know if it's the same height as my Walthers Superliners, Thanks!

Superliners are 1/8" higher than F59PHIs.

Prototypically, are the Superliners the same height as the Surfliners? On the Surfliner trains, the height of the cars and F59PHIs seems to be the same. Just curious...

The Superliners are the same Height as the Surfliners, and I just got my HO Scale F59 and it is the same height as my Superliners and runs great.

Stupid question: Does anyone make Surfliner cars to go with those Surfliner locomotives? Ditto with the Amtrak California Cars with the Amtrak California locomotives.

Or is the idea just to put those F59s on a Superliner consist and pretend it is the Coast Starlight?

The Surfliners haven't been made yet for HO Scale, but have been made for O Scale by MTH-RailKing. They do have the Amtrak California Cars, but they are Brass and over $500.00 each, they also make the F59PHI in Brass, but the F59PHI's are highly detailed in look like they have better quality, the Cars to, Overland Models Produces them.

You could always re-paint your surperliners to at least have the samepaint but the doors and Windows are all wrong. There are rumers of Walthers producing them in 2005 but just rumors. Normally I run them as amtrak did when they were replacing the sandeigons (spell check) with low level Amfleet cars but an F59PHI on the point. to see photos look at pcmcrr.cjb.net.
