I am a new guy at this, getting into HO after years of dreaming, and some RC airplane construction background.

Got several La Belle passenger cars I will be pulling around behind a GN H-5. They are done except for the roofs, and trucks and couplers.

What kind of trucks do I put on? 2-axle or 3? Who makes them?

The look I am going for is a shabby GN beater train using 20 or 30 year old stock about to be retired. Branch line service, I guess, like they could have used in the 1920s going up the Okanogan River to resorts in Canada. Anyhow, what kind of trucks. Who makes them? I prefer metal to plastic, just for reasons of aesthetics and freer rolling. But what are my choices for something not glaringly wrong in fictitious "period pieces"? And are there any compendiums or reference books, mags, etc, on the subject?

Thanks. Jack Kennedy

If convenient & you have an opportunity I would
start by checking out the Walthers Passenger Car Truck section in their catalog that a local
hobby shop should have.

Well, you don't say what the cars are. So, try this. 60 to 80 foot heavy weight passenger cars would probably take 3 axle trucks. Older and shorter passenger equipment would use 2 axle.

As to where to get them, why not buy them from La Belle? http://www.labellemodels.com/

Kadee makes some really good trucks for pass cars, but you could also go with cast brass sideframes and NWSL wheels.
If you have any questions regarding model trains, or need custom paint work done, send me an e-mail.
