Does Digitrax have something that runs trains without wire being connected the layout?

What brand of dcc diesel engines are used?

Digitrax have a wireless throttle, but it is wireless only between the throttle and the DCC command station - there are still wires (but only 2!) from the command station to the rails.

I think there is an infrared system available with the command link directly between the handheld and the locomotive receiver. Rail-Lynx or Locolinx, maybe? It was reviewed in MR a few years back, and I think it's still advertised (look for the guy with the cigar and the top hat in the ads!). DCC seemed a better way to me, so that's the way I went.

That's all I know. Hope it helps.
